Psalms 23:1
[1](A Psalm of David.) The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

God is revealed as the Shepherd. In the New Testament, Jesus is the Good Shepherd.

The Shepherd takes care of the sheep in every aspect of their life and they lack nothing. The sheep should and will never be in a state of want – anxiety and desire – since the Shepherd, who is their all in all (all sufficient) and able to provide for their needs and wants. He will lead them to the green pastures and still waters among other benefits.

We are the sheep of His pasture, those who acknowledge His leading and recognize His voice.

Obedience to the voice of the Lord will enable will us follow where He leads. We will never lack. If we do not obey His voice and follow His leading to green pastures, we will indeed lack.

God’s voice is prevalent through His Word. He also leads us through the Holy Spirit. Every letter of God’s Word is inspired by His Spirit (2 Timothy 3:16). We should be ready and open our hearts to hear His voice whenever we read the scriptures of His Word. We shall benefit from instruction from the Word when we walk in obedience to what it says. Then we shall receive supply of what we need.

May we obey God’s voice and His leading. It’s the only way not to lack.

Prayer : Lord teach us how to hear your voice and follow your leading.
